Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. This competition is promoted by GetMyFirstJob Limited whose trading address is Langstone Technology Park, Havant, PO9 1SA, UK.
  2. This promotion is open to all secondary schools in the UK.
  3. You must be attending secondary school to enter this competition and supported by at least one registered teacher from the school you are attending who can verify your identity as a pupil of the school. Participation in this competition must comply with the relevant health and safety requirements that apply to this type of activity at your school.
  4. How to enter: Entries must be submitted via the ‘4 schools’ portal by a teacher using the formats specified in the entry conditions. Please include the name and age of the participating pupils as well as name and contact details of the school for each competition entry. Each secondary school must be located within the UK and is limited to a maximum of 3 entries. A confirmation email will be sent out upon receipt of your application. If you do not receive this following your submission, then it will be your responsibility to make contact with GetMyFirstJob using competition@4-schools.co.uk. Please allow 2-3 days to receive a confirmatory response about your entry. Note that no entries will be considered if they have not been submitted through the portal.
  5. The opening date for entries is 26th April 2022. The closing date for entries is 16.00 hours on 1st July 2022. No entries received after this time will be accepted.
  6. Entries are entirely free to any secondary schools based in the UK. Unfortunately, if your school is not based in the UK, you will not be able to enter this competition.
  7. Each entry must have been completed by a team of between 4 and 7 pupils who must be registered at the same school. Pupils must be in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) at the time of entry. The total number of students able to attend studio visit will be limited to no more than 7 with up to 2 accompanying members of staff who will remain responsible for the pupils throughout. It is the direct responsibility of the schools and teachers to ensure that consent has been obtained by the parents/guardians of the students who are participating, and the school is responsible for ensuring that all entries are free of any third party copyright infringements or restrictions. By submitting an entry, you are confirming that all consents have been obtained.
  8. The prize is as follows:
    The winning entry will be invited to complete a studio tour to be agreed with Channel 4 dependant on the location of the winners and filming schedules. The prize is non-transferable and open only to those members of the winning team. Schools will also be able to claim up to £1,500 to cover travel and staff costs directly associated with the prize.
  9. No prize alternatives are available to the pupils and schools that enter.
  10. GetMyFirstJob reserves the right in their absolute discretion to substitute the studio tour within another prize which may or may not have an equal value without prior notification.
  11. The winning entry for the competition will be judged by a panel of experts. The decision of the judging panel will be final.
  12. All entrants are expected to act fairly and in the good spirit of the competition. GetMyFirstJob reserves the right to investigate any irregularities and disqualify entrants at their absolute discretion.
  13. Any entry including elements which are deemed to be defamatory, inappropriate or indecipherable will be rejected. Any applications made on behalf of or for another student, team or school will not be included in the competition. You warrant to us that you created your competition entries, that you own all of the copyright in those entries, and that our use of the entries in accordance with these terms and conditions will not infringe any person or company’s intellectual property rights or other legal rights. Any submission where there is a potential risk of copyright infringement or restrictions will be automatically disqualified.
  14. GetMyFirstJob’s decision as to who has won the competition shall be final.
  15. To obtain details of the prize winner after the closing date, please email competition@4-schools.co.uk. Information about the winning entry will be published on the 4-school’s website (www.4-schools.co.uk). The winning entry is likely to be announced sometime in July 2022.
  16. The entry instructions are part of the terms and conditions for this competition.
  17. By entering the competition you are agreeing to accept these terms and conditions (both as a school, parent/guardian and pupil, as the case may be). Any breach of these terms and conditions by you will mean that your entry will not be valid, and your entry will not be considered by the judging.
  18. By entering this competition you are agreeing that, if you win, the name of your school and of the participants in the winning team may be a) used for the purpose of announcing the winner and/or b) distributed to individuals who request details of the winner and/or c) in any related publicity by GetMyFirstJob, without additional payment or permission. It is anticipated that some photographs will be taken during the studio tour and GetMyFirstJob will retain the right to use these images and details of the school and the winning team for publicity purposes as well as for publishing on its website and across any other external promotional platforms. You grant to us an exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to copy, store, edit, distribute, transmit and publish your competition entries.
  19. Any personal information you give us will be used solely for this competition and will not be passed on to any other parties without your written agreement.   20. GetMyFirstJob will not be responsible unless required by law for any loss, personal injury, damages, costs or expenses, arising from or in any way connected with this competition. This competition may be cancelled or altered at any point.
  21. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you irrevocably and unconditionally waive your rights to be identified as the author of your competition entries and any other moral rights which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time and under all similar legislation from time to time in force anywhere in the world.
  22. Any dispute relating to the competition shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
